The Word is Obese Not "Chunky"

I'm so tired of it.

Please get over yourself, if you are fat, you are fat.  You know it.  I'm tired of the political correctness of, of "I'm not obese, I'm big boned".  Really?  Because I never thought big boned meant taking up two seats on the bus or breaking the chair when you sit in it.

I have an acquaintance who explained it best.

When he was younger he got teased mercilessly for being "fat".  One day, when he was particularly upset, his mom said to him, "Are they lying?"

Well, no.

Yes, he was being teased, but it wasn't a lie.  He was fat.  From that day on, he didn't let being called fat get to him.  He knows he's obese.  At one time he was morbidly obese.  Today, he's down to simply obese, but he's getting there.  Before long, he will be in the overweight category instead.  He's doing it for himself.

My point is, it doesn't matter what you call it.  Obese is obese.  Fat is fat.  A person who is obese or overweight may have big bones, but big bones doesn't make someone heavy.

Perhaps it's genetics, or a medical problem that is behind a person's weight.  That's irrelevant.  I'm not for fat shaming someone, but I'm tired of this political correctness of "Oh, she's just a little chunky".  ... huh?  Over 250 on a 5' 4" female is not a little chunky, it's obese.

It doesn't do that person any good to sugar coat the facts and we all need to stop doing it.
